BATH TIMES

HI THERE

I FOUND THIS INFO ON A SITE AND I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY INTERESTING. I SOMETIMES HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY LITTLE BOY.

BEING REPEATEDLY SUBMERGED INTO WATER AND LATHERED WITH SOAP BY A GIANT COULD BE DEEMED TRAUMATIC FOR AN ADULT. THAT IS SO TRUE I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY. SO AS YOUR CHILD IS STILL GETTING USED TO THE IDEA OF TAKING A BATH, YOU MIGHT WANT TO MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER ON HIM OR HER.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS THAT I FOUND ON THE SITE.

Are they comfortable?

For babies, making sure that the water is a safe temperature is a good start.

Holding them tightly, making them feel secure. No-cry soap helps too. As some of the water will inevitably touch your baby’s eyes.

Bath-time fun

Some shaving cream and food colouring is a fun way to paint temporary images on the side of the bath and then have fun cleaning up the walls as well as the toddler!

Another suggestion is giving the toddler a rice strainer to play with in the bath. Loads of moms have vouched that thier kids love it!

Bubbles!

Children love bubbles. Get some good ole bubble bath and watch your toddler pretend to have a beard for hours.

There are many ways to make bath time easier, but the formula seems to be as long as your kid is comfy and warm and you have a good imagination, bath time will be enjoyable for you both.

HOPE IT HELPS

Changing Mat

Dear Moms and Dads

I know I have not written a blog for some time now. But I have come to realise getting ready for a baby is a lot of work. I have finally finished babies’ room. Now it is time to wait for my little man to arrive.

In the mean time I would love to tell you about a new product I have found that I am sure you would love.

It is a changing mat that fits perfectly on the compactum but you might ask what is different with this mat to normal ones. Well let me tell you.

  1. They use high density foam so it will not collapse or lose its shape.
  2. It has nice high sides to keep the baby contained and helps prevent your baby from rolling off.
  3. The surface in the middle is broad enough for baby to move freely as well as give you enough working surface.
  4. The plastic of the changing mat is manufactured using a 6 gage PVC (hospital quality) which is 100% waterproof. It has a matt finish so baby does not stick to the cover and it is soft to the touch.

Its dimensions are 50cm wide x 60cm long and fits all standard size compactums.

They also manufacture cotton and towelling fitted covers for the changers. They are lovingly stitched together with elasticated edges to enable Mom to slip them onto the changer easily and quickly.  They wash beautifully and come in a variety of soft colours.

I am very excited to start using mine.

If you would like more info on changing mat please contact me.

I have added some pictures for you to see what it looks like.

Well happy shopping and I hope you have lots of enjoyment from your new arrivals.

ITEMS FOR YOUR BABIES ROOM

NEEDS FOR YOUR BABIES ROOM

DEAR MOM AND DAD THIS IS THE EXCITING PART BUT IT CAN ALSO BE DIFFICULT TO DECIDE WHAT TO BUY.

  • YOU WILL NEED A COT. I FOUND THE COT WAS THE EASIEST TO CHOOSE THE ONLY THING I WOULD SAY IS A DROP SIDE IS NOT RECOMMENDED YOU CAN READ MY BLOG ABOUT DROP SIDES. A CAMP COT CAN ALSO WORK

  • A MATTRESS FOR YOUR COT. ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE MATTRESS IS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THE COT. THERE IS SO MANY DIFFERENT MATTRESSES OUT THERE SO AT THE END IT IS YOUR CHOOSE AS TO WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE.

  • 3 X FITTED COT SHEETS.

1 FOR THE COT

1 IN YOUR CUPBOARD

1 IN THE WASH

  • BLANKETS

  • NIGHT LIGHT

  • MOZZIE NET

  • BABY MONITOR

  • COMFORTABLE FEEDING CHAIR FOR YOU WITH A STOOL.

  • COMPACTUM: THIS WAS A STORY FOR ME TO CHOOSE FROM. I SAT IN THE ROOM AND LOOKED AT WHAT SPACE I NEEDED. I KNEW I NEEDED SOMEWHERE TO CHANGE MY BABY ON BUT WHAT ELSE DO I NEED IN THE CUPBOARD. DRAWERS ARE ALWAYS HANDY TO HAVE AND LONG TERM THEY ARE A BIG HELP FOR DIFFERENT ITEMS.

  • IF YOUR ROOM IS BIG ENOUGH MAYBE A LITTLE SIDE TABLE NEXT TO THE FEEDING CHAIR FOR A LAMP AND A RADIO SO YOU CAN PLAY SOME SOFT MUSIC SO YOU CAN RELAX WHILE FEEDING OR PLACE TO PUT A BOOK OR SOMETHING FOR YOU TO DRINK.

  • YOU COULD ALWAYS PUT A SHELF ABOVE THE COMPACTUM SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE SPACE TO MAYBE PUT TOYS ON IT TO KEEP YOUR BABY BUSY OR SOME TOILETRIS.ON IT. THE OTHER THING YOU CAN HAVE IS KNOBS OR HOOKS UNDER THE SHELF SO YOU CAN HANG A MODILE ON IT.

  • YOU COULD IF YOU LIKE BUY A WHOLE LINEN BUNDLE FOR THE COT WHICH CONSITS OF A BUMPER, PILLOW AND A DUVET BUT MOST OF THOSE ITEMS ARE ONLY USED TO MAKE THE COT LOOK PRETTY WHEN YOUR BABY IS STILL SO SMALL THEY WILL NOT USE ANY OF THOSE ITEMS.

  • ANOTHER ITEM THAT WILL DEFINATELY COME IN HANDY IS A FEEDING CUSHION. SO THAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WHEN FEEDING YOUR LITTLE BUNDLE OF JOY.

  • A CHANGING MAT IS A MUST. I FOUND A LOVELY MAT THAT HAS HIGH SIDES SO IT JUST KEEP BABY IN PLACE.

WELL HAPPY DECORATING. I KNOW I AM HAVING ALOT OF FUN PAINTING AND DECORATING MY LITTLE ONES ROOM.

pros and cons of a drop side cot

I thought I would give you the pros and cons of having a cot with a drop side

I must admit it does make it easier to put your baby in and out of the cot.

The cons definitely out weigh the pros. One thing is that you will not be able to hold your baby and drop the sides as you need both hands to drop the side rail, so you will need to remember before hand to drop the side. With your baby moving while he or she sleeps the mechanism can rattle and wake it up. Then when your child gets bigger it can learn to open the latch and then the side will drop and your child can then fall out of the cot and hurt its self really badly. A study was done and they came to the conclusion that since 2000 there was at least 32 reported cases where infant deaths have occured due to a problem with the drop down mechanism.

That is why at Gecko furniture and decor we only supply cots that the base moves to three different levels. So as your baby grows so does the cot grow with it. Most of our cots can be changed into a junior bed so the cot will then last your baby a lot longer.

I hope this helps a little bit as you search for your cot

Happy hunting
